If you have a Manual, it's pretty clear. Two bolts hold the thrermostat housing, and the t-stat comes right out. When you remove it, clean the surfaces of the head and the housing really well. The gasket is a round washer-like rubber seal, and it has a lip that goes on each side of the thermostat flange. It forms a seal on BOTH sides of the flange, by having the flange in the slot on the inside edge of the rubber gasket.

Yep.Take it out Most t-stats are 140 degrees so get a thermometer and a pan of water on the stove.dunk them into the water that is over 140 and see if they open.

If you have a V6 motor you have two thermostats. If you have an inline six, you have zero thermostats.

What have you got?

You should see the two bolt thermostat covers on each cylinder head. They will have hoses that run to the telltale and exhaust passage.

I have a V 6 ,will i have to remove the block to access.

Open the motor covers; you'll see the t-stats at the top of each cylinder head, with hoses that run to a t-coupling down to the midsection where they discharge through the "pee-hole". You don't have to disassemble the motor, just open the covers and remove them, and you will be on your way.
