POR 15 or KBS Coatings...?

Hi all!

I need to de-rust a receiver hitch, and then I want to apply something to prevent the recurrance of the blasted stuff.

What is your experience with the products named above? Is one clearly better than the other? Has anyone had bad results with either?

Just my opinion but...... both are very expensive for a hitch and unless you have the products on hand I would save money.

Have the hitch sand blasted and give it a few coats of primer covered with good paint.

I live in the rust belt area and some items are not worth the investment of exotic coatings.

I used POR 15 on my receiver hitch and parts of the truck's frame. I bought their cleaner and prep and followed the directions. In less than 5 years, it peeled off....I'd go with the above poster and sand, then paint. If you want better than box store paint, go somewhere like Tractor Supply and get some implement paint. It holds up better than rattle can paint.
