Carb rebuilding questions

Hey All

I'm trying to get a 1979 80HP Merc up & running like it should.

It starts after a choke-a-thon and idles beautifully once it's
warmed up. The problem is it spurts/squirts gas out of the
'little brass thingy' to the left of the throat on the bottom carb.
(whatever that's called )
Obviously something must be stuck open or shut??
Anyway, I'm going to rebuild both carbs to hopefully clear that up.
So my question is: what all do I need to get to do the job right??
The carb kit from Sierra seems to include a lot, including gaskets
and needle & seat, just wondering if there's anything else I should
replace while I have them off?

Thanx in advance, Bill.:)

Re: Carb rebuilding questions

You may need float(s) but you won't know until you get them apart. Normally they can be reused.
