Garmin offers gps/radar combo units. I don't think Humminbird does yet, but I know Lowrance, Raymarine and Furuno offer options to run radar and gps (even sonar, engine guages, sirius weather, etc) on the same head unit. If he left his Garmin radome and wiring, I say just buy a Garmin unit (their GPS mapping is the best out there right now). One thing I will say about the new broadband radar that some offer is that it is basically useless in fog or incliment weather when us Great Lakes guys really need them.
