okay I have an 90hp 2002 Yamaha with a random starting issues. I can leave it for weeks and it will fire right up. However a half an hour later I turn the key and nothing happens, but I have full power on the console and the engine hydraulics work. I checked the battery and the wing nuts are tight, but this is driving me crazy. I have my doubts about the wring as their about 6 wires connecting to the battery terminals. Any help would be appreciated.

Check the connections of the battery cables to the engine, JD. Sounds like one of them has resisrance when warm, but not when cold.

Good luck. :)

My 2nd on what JB said. Remove, inspect and clean each connection, including the one on the side of the starter, with a 3M Scotchbrite pad, a drop of oil, retighten carefully, should take care of your problem. If not, check battery cables for internal corrosion. Good luck!
