Another Dual Battery Question

I have a quick question. My boat came with a dual battery set up on a switch.

I have read a lot on here that you should have one starting battery, and one deep cycle ..

My boat came with, and I have been using it for two years with two Dual purpose marine batteries...

I have yet to have any problems but I'm just curious for input from people that know more about batteries ..

I will get the specs on the CCA and deep cycle off the batteries when I get home..

A dual purpose battery will handle starting duties just fine for most motors.

Thanks.

I should have mentioned they are starting a 1998 115hp Johnson.

Unless the motor isn't in proper tune or has some other problem and therefore takes a lot of cranking to start, a Group 27 (or larger) dual purpose battery should not have a problem. A Group 24 battery might be marginal.

Even a 24 series battery could easily start that motor but I would always get the biggest battery that you can fit.

+1 absolutely agree go big on the batteries!!.......especially if you got a stereo!

The two that are in the boat are pretty big. I will measure them.

Will they say group 27 or 24 right on them?

Jus measure them. 24 will be a little over 10" long and the 27 will be a little over 12".
