I just picked up an early 1990's (i think) 30 hp evinrude. The model number info is missing on the engine. I'd love some help figuring out what year and model it is so I can get the right parts. The engine is dark blue and has CD2USL ignition. The motor looks promising, only fresh water, good compression & spark, etc but the flywheel is rubbing on the ignition coils. I got the flywheel off and the wobble of the plate is pretty bad. It looks like on this motor that the armature plate is bronze and it sits on a circular machined part of the block. Nothing to adjust. I'm worried that if I get a new plate, the aluminum circular part of the block will be what had most of the wear and the whole thing will still wobble. Seems like some kind of sleeve may be a better bet. I have a lathe and can make something up. Looking for suggestions or any experience with this problem. Must be pretty common given the design.
