However, the 45 might be on the small side for that boat if you carried a big load and faced adverse conditions; I am guessing a 55-70 hp would be more likely. Ask the whaler folks what they run on their 17's (are you sure it's a 16?). But since that hull floats high, with one person it will scoot and with two it will do fine.
