I just purchased this boat yesterday. New tires, Mercury 50hp.
Everything seems to work on the boat so I plan to restore slowly and customize some areas such as the driver's console with some helpful gauges. New wiring to come and probably a sandblast of the trailer to hit it with a new primer and paint.

I just don't know what year it is. The motor is a 1974 but the boat is unknown.
Has a bilge pump at the flip of a switch as well as the running/night lights. I have given the hull sides a cleaner-wax first coat. I plan to wax it up nicely again and again.

I figure that if I post this up that others can gain more info. Plus! This is in amazing shape for the price... once I saw it I had to buy it.

The seller thought it was a 14'. I think it's closer to 16'. I have no idea though. I thought it was a Sport Fury but the consoles are so different.

Haha, that's left for me to fin out! I didn't test it. The price was too good to pass up to the person waiting after me. Monday I will be working the bugs out on the water. Until then I am doing some preventative maintenance on everything. The first part was cleaning everything and tighten everything down, and find what is loose and needs replacing.

The gas can and its contents are iffy. I like the can but I don't want to chance it... a new one will be had soon. New hoses and primer bulb as well as a couple inexpensive fuel filters to go inline. New plugs and wires and etc. I'd like to get a manual for the motor but I haven't looked for one just yet.

I'm all automotive but with very little experience with carbs, so I'm gonna take things step by step.

I've seen in a forum here (starcraft) that a good carb clean and maybe a rebuild if it's been awhile will make a huge difference even if it runs already. Also, alot of guys swear by seafoam.... saw on the iboats outboard forum..... can't wait to hear how it turns out!

The motor starts up faster than any motor I've ever seen, car or marine. It has no delay, as soon as you turn the key the motor clicks on like it's an electric machine.
Took a few minutes getting started with the gas that it had in the can, but when it finally ran... yeah baby!

Nice! Here's the Tri Hull I'm looking at.... not sure about it though.... guys in the Mercury forum think I should RUN away:eek:.... has some engine "issues". So it depends on how severe it turns out to be.

One thing to look at on the motor (I have a 200 that vintage) is the wires to the stator (heading toward the flywheel). Mine, the insulation was frayed and they arced against the block when you accelerated--an electrical issue disguised as a fuel issue.
Also those mercs can have some wierd wiring, so get a good manual.

Hey, that one looks pretty good! I can gaurantee that those seats are in better shape than the ones on mine currently!

Thanks for the heads up! Were you able to hear the arcing, maybe, in hindsight?
Arcing can sometimes be amazingly loud.
Where did you find a manual?

Supposed to look at it tomorrow! I'll probably need a boat mechanic to check it over if I like it.
