Hi, to all. I am new here and a first time boater. I got this boat for 500.00 and it has a 3.0L gm OMC setup in it. Its a Arrivee 17" bowrider made in 1983.
I need to replace stringers and engine mounts because they are wet and rotten. It also looks like someone was drunk when they put it together. I have no way to take top off and I am going to cut stringer off at front where bow walkway is. it looks halfway dry up there. will be drying out until next summer.
I was thinking of how to make a better engine mount but I do not know how long it needs to beand if I should cut the stringer short and but it up to mount. Here is a picture. It looks like 2 by 6 with 3/8 stringer between.
