Johnson 140, 1994 looper. Running great but as I'm cruising today I had a loss of thrust. Power head runs fine but when I give it throttle it just revs up. It will run at about two knots. After pulling it out of the water I could smell a burn smell near the prop. any help is wonderful. Thanks

Sounds like you hae a "spun" prop. That's where the rubber hub breaks away from the prop shaft housing.

I check the lower end lube and it was not burned and no metal filings in it . Whats the fix for Prop spun? pull prop and replace seals?

No, your lower unit is not the problem, the prop is. You will need to find a dealer that can get it repaired for you or, find another used one and replace it.

Sure enought. I pulled the prop and the hub inside was wallowed. Is there a kit to replace the rubber insert?

Can't help you with that question. My guess is that the hub is adhered inside the prop by some special adhesive/heat combination. Maybe someone here on Iboats can help us out with this.

Take the prop to your local dealer, if the dealer doesn't repair props, ask them where they take them.

Re: Loss of power to prop

Take the prop to a prop shop if you have one in your area or to your local marine dealer who will ship it out to a prop shop. The shop will rehub the prop, take out any nicks or bends and make it like new. Rehubbing is not a do-it-yourself project.
