In trying to help a friend ID the pinion gear on the bottom of his drive shaft.

The four links provided in the link stickied at the top of the Mercury page didn't help to clear the block in my brain. Several of the charts stopped at 1996 and the others didn't really help either.

I'm not certain I know the model number of this motor even though I have the label from his motor on my desk as I type.

The serial number is OG751029 and I believe the model number might be 1998 175EFI but I'm not certain. There is really not a reference to model number on this label.

I would appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction. My friend needs, at a minimum, a way of identifying the parts number to the pinion gear on the splines at the bottom of the drive shaft, the needle bearing right above it and a seal kit.

It might also be helpful to know the range of lower units (horse power, years and any other info that might be relevant) that would fit this motor.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
