I'm looking to spend around 100k and want a boat that will sleep 5 minimum, keep my wife happy cruising port to port yet make a canyon run for yellowfin's also. I've been looking at the 95-99 Luhrs 34 tournament, luhrs 36 or38 open w/tower and early 90's Tiara 34 express. any suggestions or comments

Good luck with your search, but I don't think too many on this forum are dabbling with 100k dollar boats!

My preference would be the Tiara. They're built like tanks and seem to hold their value. I looked at the 31 Open and the 29 Coronet before I bought my Cobalt. Yeah, I know, totally different animal, but I couldn't pass up the deal. I had a newer 38 Rampage nearly run me over this weekend. It was a nice looking boat and was running 30+ knots. I got a real good look at the underside of the bow...

Depending on where you are you might want to look into one of the smaller "custom" builders. There are a few out here that make beautiful boats that seem to be less expensive than some of the big guys.

You might also want to check out some of the sport fishing forums.

I would have twin diesels at around 35 feet if I was running to the canyon for tuna.....with a large, refridgerated fishbox.:) I would stick to a sportfish. If you can find a Luhrs at that price....would be nice. I run a 35 Cabo sometimes that sleeps 6.
