Slow shifting out of gear

I just replaced the lower shift cable on my 898 and adjusted as per the manual.
It shifts into forward and reverse very easily but when I select neutral the outdrive stays in gear for a while before disengaging in either direction.

Is there a way to make it shift out of gear sooner?

replace the v-spring in the shift interrupt assy

the new one should be much stiffer and have yellow ends

Thanks for that!
I have just replaced it.
My dealer looked at me strange when I told him.
He suggested it might be the switch but mine was working.
I did notice that the switch arm was slightly bent so as to delay the operation so I bent that back a little and no more problem!
