can anyone help with these numbers or pics?

Ive go this outboard that looks like an old eska or clinton, but actually has a elgin sticker on it that been painted over. I cant seem to get a match on any of these numbers either.

636-08a, 4516015, 55 5021.

motor is techumseh 31332

For pictures you will have to use a host site.636-08a sounds like a type number
probably pre 69.I think Eska started to appear around 1960 Around the time I think Elgin became Sears. Also around 60 McCulloch started supplying motors.

I did a rather cursory check for the #s you listed under Sears at Brix Ent. website--<http://home.earthlink.net/~brixent/index.html>---without any luck. Maybe you'll be luckier.

As Steelespike noted McCulloch started supplying engines to Sears shortly after they bought out West Bend. (the supplier of the post-war 'Elgin' engines)
Mac continued to produce the West Bend 3 1/2 hp air-cooled series for many years and MAY have sold them to Sears. So the possibility exists that your motor was a Mac-built West Bend. If so be happy! I revived one of the later 3.6 hp versions earlier this year and it is one of the 'friendliest' small outboards I've ever experienced.
