Electric to Manual Start

I have the chance to pick up two '59 Johnson 18 outboards, one manual start in good condition and one electric start that works but the motor is beat up. How difficult is it to convert the manual to electric start since I will have all the components to make the conversion?

I also have a lead on a '61 Johnson 18 in really good condition which is a manual start. Will the 59 electric start mechanism work in the '61?
