I have a Larson 330 Cabrio "step hull" and looking at buying a used trailer that is for a 31' Searay...the length of the trailer is fine but, I have to weld a step to raise the rear bunks to fit the step hull on my boat.

Question: Will a trailer built for a Searay be a good fit if modified for my Larson step hull or should I spend the extra money and have one made pacifically for my boat, will it fit if I just modify the bunks?

Ayuh,... If it's Modified for the Larson,.... It's no longer a Searay trailer....

I don't see a problem...

I had my Larson on a Sea-Ray trailer once before and it seemed low not only in ground clearance but the clearance over the fenders...now I'm looking at a VIP trailer that is higher in ground clearance, stronger but setup for a Sea-Ray.

I guess I'm trying to weigh my options on how difficult would it be to modify the trailer, and if paying 5K for a used steel VIP trailer in great shape but needs to be modified is better than buying a new aluminum trailer for 7K that is already setup for my boat. Guess that is something I will have to decide.

I was hoping to get some input from somebody that had modified one and what they experienced, like would it be as simple as raising the rear bunks or will it turn into a nightmare putting the boat on and off the trailer again and again until I get it right.
