Hi Guys,
tThanks for letting me jump in here. I have a 1984 90 hp Mariner. I tthink it's a 6 cyl. First time out the something caused the primer bulb to deflate like a balloon with the air let out. loosened the hose and it refilled. Got her going again. Down the lake a making a wide turn when the motor stopped dead. It felt like the lower end had locked. Starter wouldn't turn engine. The bendix was still engaged. Towed in. Manually turn motor with wrench, moved throttle lever back and forth, bypassed the selinoid and I do not know what worked but motor and ran fine. Back to lake ..won't turn over. didn't get in water.Prop seems to work forward and reverse. Two days later Replaced the selinoid and returned to lake. It started. When I started away from the dock it felt like I had spun a prop. RPM's but barely moving in the water. Later it picks up, but I her small mettallic sounds. Now able to run 30+ mph. Take it to the dock to get a drink. When I come back the starter will not turn the motor over. LoADED THE BOAT WITH A ROPE. Battery checked good.
Not a good sign for a boat you just bought. Any advice ???
