I had a recent issue with my trim. It would go down but not up, after tracing through all the electrical and swapping out the solenoid it turned out to be a micro switch that was above the trim motor mounted on the first pivot point of the throttle cable.

I spoke to my local repair shop and they couldn't find it in their part list so I bipased it and it all works. However I am now concerned that I have either removed a critical component or that the previous owner had wired something wrong. I see another, much larger, switch at the end of the throttle cable. Does anyone know what this is? it had a light blue and plane blue wires running to it? Should there be a reason to have micro switch placed on the throttle cable that is inline with the up feature of the trim?

Thanks for your help

Aaron

PS this is on a 1977 mercruiser 140 sitting in a Marquis runabout.

Re: microswitch

Ayuh,... On a 1977, I'm Guessin' that is/was the reverse-lock switch...
It's on the shifting cable, Not the throttle cable...
