Just got a used ranger bass boat that came with a 1975 115hp evinrude. This last weekend took my first fushing trip in it and to see out it ran. My problem is got into some shallow water and raised the motor all the way up and started drift fishing. In about 20 minutes I noticed no longer drifting, the motor had lowered itself back down all the way. Which ended up getting me stuck for awhile. I tried to raise motoer up and all it did was make a few clicks and thats all. Finally got it unstuck and went on about fishing. At the end of the day motor would not raise up at all. No noise from the motor, I had read some where about a screw to turn to by pass and get motor to rise. I opened up 2 different screws and noticed some oil leaking out and a little air. With help from another guy we pushed motor up and blocked it for ride home. When got home to clean boat tried trim for the heck of it. Now motor raised and lowered but when all way up motor drifts down.
Is the problem I have air in system or is a cylinder bad. And the motor how long does it last and need replacing. First time I've owned a boat with tilt trim, so I'm a newbie with this.
Thanks
