:confused:What type of oil is used in '84 Alpha I trim pumps & cylinders? Standard hydralic oil?

What type of motor oil? I thought I read somewhere 10w x 40w?

Power steering fluid or dt light hydraulic oil not motor oil

It's a piston, driven from a pump. Hydraulic oil. I'm a maintenance mechanic/electrician

Obviously not a Mercruiser marine mechanic.

According to the OEM service manual, his pump takes either 10W30 or 10W40 engine oil, and it's a gear pump, not a piston pump.

mine says 10w30 but went i losta trim line i went to adealer and he gave me trim fluid and i put that in and it worked too. but i probably should put the 10w30 back in.
