I am looking at Minn Kota trolling motors, how much thrust would be good for a 14 foot fiberglass, loaded with me the wife and fuel for the outboard, we are probably looking at about 800 lbs.
The biggest one you can afford would be my answer but realistically speaking a 55lb thrust 24 volt would be the way to go. I know it's just a 14' boat but pretty much any 12v trolling motor just plain feels anemic to me. Last thing you want is for a single battery to go dead halfway through a trip. Better to use 50% of what's available than 100% when wanting to fish all day.
