Re: mercury 2.4 efi bridgeport 150

2 stroke................

Ta start with they are rated at est. 220 for carb 5 petal and 240 7 petal efi. Tha first efi bp's were an "updraft" efi version which later evolved to tha "horn". They do build a 2.0 (XR2) f1 rated around est. 180/200 and one 2.0 BP around 300. Both are rare motors in tha States. All of tha above are UNPAINTED BLOCKS. So this tells me whoever has this thing knows nothin' about them 'cept what "buba" said...........JMO

They have electric pumps, no oil injection, one piece adapter, single ram high perf. trim and clamp (different from early production motor single ram trim and bracket). Solid lowers (none on top due to tha adapter). Alum. flywheel. Lite weight cowl.

Get some pictures and hopefully we can tell what you're lookin' at...........

Build date will be stamped in small 1/8' numbers (M/D/Y) at tha base of number 2 cylinder on tha block half (back half of tha motor where tha two halves split), right behind tha timing advance arm..............D

Re: mercury 2.4 efi bridgeport 150

Depends on tha pictures and what ya really got. Pump will mount in tha boat using a relay ta power it. Should maintain at least 39+ lbs at 7 grand. Some say 36 is ok, but I'm not one of 'em. Should be a regulator on tha motor. Is this complete motor or just tha powerhead?

I'd go to Tony Brucato for a pump. Best prices and can tell ya 'xactly what ya need...............

Can you post some pictures. The motor is a significant find if it's what you think it is.

Re: mercury 2.4 efi bridgeport 150

Holy currappp, nice motor!!!! Don't need to do much to it if compression is good. Just to be on the safe side I'd send the injectors off to Tony and Linda Brucato (www.brucatosvs.com) for a test and cleaning. It would be a shame to burn it down with something as simple as a dirty injector.

Nice find, congrats!

As Ddog posted you will need a fuel pump mounted in boat, check compression and leak down and check ignition and electrical real good as ECU is NLA for this engine and a aftermarket is around $1300. Dont buy someone elses problem. Also what are you planning on putting this on??

Re: mercury 2.4 efi bridgeport 150

Here's a couple of other things ta make life with a BP easier if it proves ta be in good shape. Just keep in mind, its an old motor and its no tellin' whats on tha inside no mater what your told..........If it doesn't work out for ya, let me know!

Change the vacuum elbow, tha one tha ecu goes to, (Part number 22- 822715), removed the throttle positioning sensor (nla anyway and prone ta go bad) put a blank plate over where it bolts on. Put an A-40 digital box on and just plug it in. NGK : BR8HS gapped at .035"...................D

Oh yeah, ya can also use tha A42 but you will need part number 848405 (I think). Its an ecu harness part that will allow you use your harness without any mods..........

Re: mercury 2.4 efi bridgeport 150

:( Destined for the big scrap pile :( Dont kill this motor, get a regular 135-150hp engine and use it , a good'em would be a late 80's Johnrude Gt150
