(One) engine, at idle, will show appropriate 13+ volts. Advance throttle beyond 1200 rpm and line voltage drop to 10-11 volts.

What might be going on and how do i test and troubleshoot?

thanks in advance.

Howdy,

Aside from checking ALL the ground connections, (clean and tight), to start, I would pull the alternator and take it to Autozone etc and have them check it.

Could be a voltage regulator, most likely built into the alt. They might not be sending out the correct signal/ or geting a bad signal through the ground or power. Lose connection is a possibility. Like mentioned above they can test for these conitoins. Just make sure they get it hot (doing the test a couple of times). Put ti on hard load.
