I am looking at a boat with a DT30 motor. I was told this was a 2003, however, it looks like they quit selling DT30 outboards in 1997 to the US. The lower housing unit was supposedly replaced but it's ID number is for a 1984.
I looked at the engine block behind the electronic control unit and found a number 83 stamped on the engine block as well as other numbers.
So it looks to me that this is an 84 model DT30.
Also, can you put a 1984 lower unit on any year of DT30?
