81 260 hp omc cuts out help please

I recently purchased a 1981 Gradywhite with a 260 hp omc motor. I ran the boat at tyhe doc for 30 mins no problems at all So we decicded to take it for a spin on the lake. We ran out a couple miles with no problems at all. when we started the boat after fishing , it started no problem and we proceeded to head in about 30 secs. into it the boat motor cut out like it had siezed suddenly. Went to start it back up nothin at all except a clicking sound. Had the boat towed back into dock. Next day went back the engine did start ran for bout 30 secs. then cut off again. Any help or suggestions would be gratly appreciated, thanks

have ya tried cleaning up all elec. connections. grounds included?
have ya given her a tune up? to include new fuel filters.

next time it dies try removing the fuel fill cap. a woosh of air would indicate a plugged fuel tank vent.

might as well do a compression test to be sure ya got something to work with too. it can be used later as a base for future problems at the very least.
