1986 85hp force no fire

hey im new to this i just bought a 1986 bayliner with a 85 hp force outboard when ibought it the guy told me that he too it out a couple weeks ago and ran about a half mile up the river and it just died and wouldnt start back i brought it home and i dont think its getting any fire to the plugs what can cause this

Bad stator,flywheel key,magnet on the flywheel came unglued,safety switch unhooked.Get a manual and a good multi meter.Spark testers too.Fill out your profile.You might be close to someone who can help.J

ok thanks i looked at the flywheel and the key looks like
its there the nut on top was only finger tight and is the safty switch the pice on the motor that only lets it turn over when in netural if not wheree is it at

is there anyway to test the stator before i spend the money on a new one and where do i find the model number to see if its the A and L or the B and all that

how do you tell what kind it is like if its an A or L or the B and all that
