beeping in little speaker

got a 94 bass tracker w / 40 hhp merc.
trying to find out what the little speaker is for at the throdle handle.
it makes a beeping sound all the time. Boat runs good, water pump good.
don't know why it is beeping

That's generally a bearer of bad news. It's an overheat alarm, newer engines also use it to signal other engine problems as well as low oil on a VRO engine.

It's possible there's a shorted or pinched wire causing it to sound when it shouldn't, that's something you need to look into.

Yes it's an alarm of some sort. It' there to warn you of a problem with your boat or engine. If you don't know how to find the problem, taking it to a shop would be the best plan. Running it in this condition could cause serious damage to the engine.
