I am in the process of restoring a 84 scorpion cc. I removed the floor to fix the stringers and redo the transom. I just pulled the two gas tanks and found one was leaking. The foam was soaked with gas. Removed all foam and washed out with water.

This boat sat idle for ten years.does gas damage fiberglass? Is there anything special i should do? New glass is that area?

Thanks.

Unless the area feels soft or gummy on the surface you should be fine.

Thank you. I did not know if gas had any damaging effects on
fiberglass or resin.

As long as the gas didn't have ethanol in it, you should be fine, they used to make gas tanks out of fiberglass in the days before ethanol, which will attack the resin.
