I have a mercury 1988 3 cylinder 50hp motor that needs too much work in the power head and 1980 50hp mariner that is in very good condition overall. The 1988 mercury has a power tilt, the guts of which are on the boat not the motor. I say that because I believe the newer motors have the power tilt in the motor. I would like to take the two motors and somehow do the least amount of work to get a working motor with power tilt. Is that at all possible? Can I take the power head from a mariner and move it to the mercury or is there an easier way. I don't have a picture of each motor because one of them is 5 hours away. I would appreciate any suggestions. I won't be doing the work myself, but a friend will do the work in exchange for the older boat the mariner, the trailer and the broken mercury.
