mecrusier not getting any spark

I have an 87 bayliner i just droped a 3.7 merc in. Everything works getting power to about everything. The motor will turn over but will not start traced all the wireing and bought new coil but not getting any spark. Any help would be great.

Start with power to the coil: Purple wire at the carb choke, +12V with the ignition switch on, Purple (resistance) wire from choke to the + coil, around 9v or so. Purple/yellow wire from the slave solenoid, battery voltage during cranking. If voltages OK, pull the center wire from the distributor and crank, should get good spark to block metal. If not look at your points. See how that goes.

touch the points with a screwdriver and the spark should jump and start arcing if that works clean up pionts or replace.

does anyone happen to know what the gap is on the points
