Have a Lowrance Mark 5x that I have installed on my Nitro bass boat and I was curious if the unit works better at higher voltages or does it work best at 12-13 volts? Screen reads that I am running around 12.5 to 12.8 volts, but also noticed that the Manual says that it can take anywhere from 10 to 17 volts. I have read that bad readings can occur if the voltages drop too low, so was not sure what effect this would have if I upped the volts to say 15 or 16 via a battery pack. Have finally got it mounted in a good place and everything is looking decent, but not looking the way that I have seen on the net and such. If higher volts do indeed help performance, I am just looking to get what I can out of the unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It will not work better on voltages higher than what it was designed for. Connect it as instructed by the manufacturer to your boat's electrical system.

The unit has a built in voltage regulator that just drops excessive voltage down to what the unit is designed to operate on. It's not like a motor the spins faster with higher voltage.

You're welcome. If you don't think it's working right, contact the manufacturer.
