stern drive oil leak

I have a 1996 alpha one generation two stern drive just changed bellows now there is oil leaking out of stern drive.Any ideas or suggestions on what to check for would be appreciated.Thanks in advance.

Where out of the stern drive is it leaking???

when the drive is down it is coming out of small hole on port side of drive.When up it is now leaking around shift lever.I forgot to mention when finished replacing bellows i noticed drive oil resevoir was empty so i filled up so now i'm woundering did i get air in.Thanks

Sounds like the o-ring around the shift shaft where it comes out of the lower unit. When you drop the lower unit to replace it check the water pump. Might just as well replace that too since it'll be apart.
