I am getting water in fuel tank, I drained it this spring and dried it. No chance I missed any water at all. Filled it to the brim, no fuel smell or leeks. Used it a few times, It rained hard, fill-up cap is good O ring is in place. Got I would guess at least a gallon of Water out of my Recon Filters. One for each engine. Does anyone know Whalers? Did they have a problem with the Vent picking up water? If the tank had a hole in it, why wouldn?t I smell Gas?

an old in hull tank will get rust holes on the top typically where there is a joint (fuel sender, hose, etc.). Inspect.
If there is a seperate vent over the side, it might be damaged, or rigged incorrectly, and you get water in there running. By pass it and replace your fill cap with a vented one.

Really--a gallon out of the filters? I thought they held about a pint.

I kept draining the Racon Filters as we were under way, I know I drained about a gallon of water till I got down to all fuel. I am the mechanic on this boat. I lifter the cover off and inspected the tank. water does sit on top. I never had a tank get water in it without smelling a gas leak. Made sure the hose was as high as I could get it over the vent. This Whaller has a lot of water up the sides when under way. Do you think the tank could have suction and pull water in the vent? it has twin 115s. sealed gas cap. You think I should just go for a new tank, I can have one built for 1200 Thank-You.

The top of the fuel tank should be high and dry. The first thing you need to do is to get that deck sealed up.
