I just purchased new 4.3 L 220 hp crate motor,omc cobra, Mechanic ask me to run 4-6 hours at varriable load and rpm. about 4 hours in to running was pulling tube and lost power. Seemed to have dropped a cylinder or 2. Could smell gas, although none visable. Shut down checked for leaks, plug wire, coil wires etc. found nothing , cranked back up ran very rough, only able to idle in, tach was inop at start up but was normal at shut down. It begain to work, but did now appear accurate during idle back to ramp. Oil pressure ok 40-45 at idle was at 60 prior to loosing power, water temp 165. Called mechanic, and of course here in vegas company out of business. Was told by another mechanic sounds like point problem. Motor seems to be real tight on turning over, this mechanic said may be "hydroloc" due to cylinder being full of unburned gas. suggestions. engine now has 4.5 hours since new out of crate. oil still crystal clear
