I have a Rule 700 livewell pump and it appears the motor is shot. It appears easy enough to replace, but one question...the wiring harness appears to be hardwired into the pump. Should this simply disconnect, or should I have to cut the wires to rewire to the new motor? I'm not sure if it is just old and hard to disconnect, or if it is indded hardwired into the motor component.

Re: Replacing livewell

Live well pumps have wires (pigtails) attached to the pump. You cut the existing boat-side wires and splice the wires from the new pump onto those. The wires going into the pump cannot be disconnected as the entrance point is normally a sealed joint to keep out water.

Re: Replacing livewell

My boat had a two-wire quick connect plug about 4-5 feet back in the cables coming from both the livewell and bilge pumps. You may want to look to see if yours came like that.
