1976 85hp v-4 johnson outboard: shifting problem

i have an 1976 85hp v-4 outboards johnson just recently it started to shift out of gear while i am accelerating. cant figure out why... any suggestions?

Is it jumping in and out of gear, or a steady slip, that breakes loose when you reach a certain speed?

it jumps in and out of gear when i am accelerating once i get to about quater throttle.

i did and it seemed fine i even tried to adjust it and it didnt make a difference.

Likely worn clutch dog and fwd gear. Caused by "gentle" shifting. Shifting should be done briskly.
