Originally had not spark on cylinders 1,3,5, found stator bad. Original stator was type 2(black gnd wire to engine case) New stator was type 1 gnd through stator mounting. Now have spark on 1,3,5 but intermittent on 2 and possibly 4.
Changed switch boxes, still intermittent on 2. Changed Trigger assembly, and still will not start.
Spark seems intermittent on even side. Disconnected stator wires to rectifier and still have problem. Re-checked switch box bias and still have same problem.
Spark seems weak and intermittent on even bank.
Need help please!

Re: 1986 200HP Ignition Trouble

It is a brand new stator, not used but you could be right and it is bad.
Chekced voltage into primary of each coil yesterday and each one gets 1.8V input, but can't get a reading from any of the secondary sides. (Should be 800-1100V)
Not sure where to go from here?
Also checked the mercury switch and out of the motor it ohms out normal, but mount into the system it reads approx 200 ohms in the down position, this seems strange, Disconnected it but still have same spark issues. Spark seems weak so I put a timing light on 31 cylinder but it won't light the timing light, so I assume that the spark is to weak??????
