My starter had not been working so I was finally able to pull it from the motor and bench test it (jumper cables to car battery)....as suspected..nothing.
I removed the bottom of the starter and noticed that one of the pie shaped magnets was stuck down....while trying to fix it I ended up chipping off a piece of the magnet...not a huge piece but one none the less.
I put it all back together and tried it again and still nothing.
Question I have for the forum....I can get a rebuild kit that hast he magnets for $30 or buy a new starter for about $110...which would you recommend?
I am afraid it may not just be the chipped magnet which means I would end up with a new starter any way and it would cost me $30 more.
Any advice?
