Hey everyone..I have an 2008 mercury optimax 150 that is on its third season. Every fall i drain all the water, change my lower unit oil and put 1 oz oil in each spark plug hole (per manufacturer suggestion). Thats my motor winterization..Just wondering if there is anything special that I need to do for a three yr maintanence this fall other than what I'm doing. I have approximately 150 hrs on my motor and love it.

Thanks a bunch
Jason

you need to change the impeller.Should be done every 2yrs.Rebuild the waterpump every other impeller change or every 4yrs.Impellers cost@$20.00 and are not hard to do if you wish.Just look it up on here.other than that, barring any problems, just follow you manual for maintenance.

You also need to be running a additive such as Merc Quickleen,Yammy Ring Free or BRP carbon guard every other tank.
