Thanks for taking your time to help. well i switched hulls an thought i took every thing out well after bring to landfill i didnt take off the steering because the new hull had it well ive got motor in an the steering wont work an i remember something on the transom that was metal that the steering cable went into an out the other end an this boat dont have that so my question - is this what i need? an what is it called? an where can i get it? the hull is a 1977 crusader 550 with a 85 johnson out board

Hey thanks alot- im young an dumb when it comes to boats but still want to restore this boat does it matter where i mount that piece on the transom there is no old holes

Yep it sure does.

This pic should show you how to do it.

Make sure to coat all the holes with 3M 4200 sealant so your transom
won't get wet and rot.

Well you see what it is, so if you think you can make one then go for it. I guess if you could get your hands on one and get all the measurements you could probably fabricatge one if you had a welder etc... but for Less than $100.00 bucks It would not be worth my time or effort to do it.

don't forget you will need the steering arm that the bracket bolts to. i also know that transom width makes a diff on what parts you need. i just went through this for a buddy.

Post a pic of the motor and stern where the cable comes out. THEN we can tell you what you need. That is a transom mount bracket. If your hull already has a bracket you may need some other parts. Can't tell you if we can't see what you got

its an 85hp johnson with the little round bolt that steering cable hooks up to on motor case cable comes out a 4 inch hole that has rubber im trying to get pics
