Hello all,

I have a 1997 Mariner outboard with what seems to be an odd serial number. It reads as follows:

06485740
1997
90ELPTO

I know 90ELPTO refers to 90 horse power, electric start, long shaft, power trim, oil injection. Every list I come up with doesn't even show a 3 cylinder 90HP Mariner outboard manufactured in 1997. I've used the search feature - I've searched everywhere I can think of with no luck. Does anyone have any information on these?

Thanks in advance!

That looks like the Model number , I believe the serial number begins with an OG######. At least mine does.

Re: 1997 Mariner 90HP serial number question

That s/n comes up as a model:

7090412FD MARINER 1997 90

Parts listing:

Service Manual P/N: 90-830234R04

You must have Adobe Acrobat reader installed to use this manual. If you scroll down to the lower part of the opening page, you will see the various engine components in red. Click on the one you want and when the first page opens, click on the "Save As" icon at the top LH corner of the page and you can save it to your computer.
