Whenever trailering my boat, my motor turns on me, even with the transom saver hooked up. I recently greased the turning mechanism on the motor. Could this be an issue with the transom saver, or just that the motor is turning much easier now that it greased? It is a 06 Tracker pro team 175 with a 60hp 2 stroke Merc.

Yah, mine does it too. I just put a bungee through the steering wheel and hook it to the fire extinguisher bracket on the floor. Doesn't have to be real tight. Any resistance will keep it from turning.

If you have a bungee on it tighten it up that what I had to do.
I put a knot on one end and that worked for me.

Tension on the steering wheel works. It's a bad design on the transom saver, its not deep enough.

i bought a new one at walmart, can't remember what brand.. but instead of rubber, it has a hard plastic "V". i got to test it out this weekend and it worked beautifully. no more motor turning at all, even on bumpy roads.

I know this is a late post, but, I bought the one from Wal mart also. I had to trim about 1/4" off of it so that the pin would fit but it works great.
