Friends, I just bought a 57 Duracraft, all original, including a running Montgomery Ward Sea King 25 horse motor. I touched up the paint because she's been neglected and she shined up nice and runs like a top. Now the lights are a 6V system that basically runs off a camping battery but I am debating converting this to a 12V so I can put an electric start, find replacement lights easier, etc etc.

Any one have any suggestions on a) keeping the 6V system and if so, how do you find 6V lights in this day and age or b) upgrading to a 12V system and tips on where to find retrofit electric starters for outboards (if even possible). Your help is most appreciated

If it's sound, buy a 6-volt battery and a couple handfuls of bulbs...you don't necessarily need 12-volt for a remote start...just enough juice to push the starter.
