I wasn't able to formulate the proper search terms to find an answer. I know this question must get asked a lot.If someone could point me to a FAQ that anwers my question, i would be grateful.

I am considering a used boat. Hull seems fine, no soft spots and the transom is solid. The boat in question has not been used in two years. It's been stored outside (fairly mild winters here near Myrtle Beach). Assuming the worst (as in no long-term storage precautions taken), what sorts of issues might the motor have?

Thanks.

The carb may need to be cleaned and a new water pump impeller should be installed.

There's a sticky in the FAQ section that discusses starting an outboard that hasn't been used in a long time.

clean the carbs, check the fuel pumb, impeller, ckeck coils, points etc. compression chech should be first though, see if the motor is worth it.
