Some wirng problems, Just got a new motor side wiring harness. The other one was so corroded and shot I couldnt compare to the new one. Not sure where each goes as I think there are more wires than the original. I hooked it up and no go. I jumped the starter solenoid and could get it to turn it over. Some help/verification with the wiring as it turned over before replacing wiring harness.

Upper Side:
Purple wire - choke solenoid
yellow/red with "clip end" - slide on bottom of neutral switch
black/yellow - tie/clip to other black/yellow
red-? maybe to the last screw above choke? 2 other red wires screwed there

Lower Side:
2 yellow/red - both on lowest nut on the starter solenoid?
Red wired tied together w/ fuse. - Upper right of the starter solenoid. (Where 12v ties in)
Black wire-? Middle right of starter solenoid.?

I remember a wire tieing to the bottom coil pack. Where did this wire go? The black wire doesnt seem long enough to reach over there. The red has too small of a end.

See attachment for harness used

Please help, Dont have the cash to take it to the shop.

Re: 1979 35 hp Evinrude Wiring Harness

Figured out the problem.
yellow/red wires to lower bolts on starter solenoid.
Purple/white to choke solenoid
black/yellow to black/yellow
black to bottom coil pack, barely reaches!!
red to 12v on starter solenoid and last terminal on opposite side.
yellow/red opposite side bottom of nuetral switch.

The plug can be inserted together two different ways! That was the main problem. FYI, I would not buy a $100 harness again. They are cheap and way overpriced. On to the next thing, cleaning the carb and replacing water-pump.
Probably going to put more money in this thing than it is worth.
