Right now

I have a 1983 Mercury 50hp 4 cylinder with Power tilt and Trim. Including controls power trim pump and such. (Has a mysterious fuel problem I haven't been able to figure out) Going to have to go to shop and gonna cost me about $250 to get the carbs squared away. Brand new Impeller to new carb kits and rebuilds.

I have an opportunity to buy a 1985 Chrysler 70 hp it missing a starter and no controls Probably Manual trim. I can pick it up DIRT CHEAP $75

I have a 15' Fish and Ski Fiberglass tri hull. The Merc REALLY lacks in power on this boat (even when it was running right).

So Should I upgrade to the 70 Sell the merc and hopefully come out far enough ahead to cover a starter and controls.

What is more reliable chrysler or merc

Re: Upgrade or stay put.

Run and hide from the Chrysler, don't even consider it as an option. It needs parts and you don't how many.....or if it will even run when you manage to find the parts you think it needs.

If you don't like the Merc sell it and buy a brand that's still being built.
