Just got a 40/48/50 evinrude, model number tag is missing. I know it is a1989 or newer by the water intake ,it is plastic held in place by 2 screws. Any outher clues as to the year? Thanks Archie
Look between the flywheel and the head for a little round plug (like a frost plug) with a number on it. Call Evinrude customer support at 847-689-7090 and if you give them that number they can tell you quite a lot about your motor. Best of luck. Rick.
I have the same water intake..and it is a 1983....and 1980 had the same...look for the welch plug .size of a nickle....that will give u serial and model number..if it still there...sometimes its just the serial #..then call BRP and they will give you the info you need...
