Hi all, newbie here. Just got a 1987 21' chris craft w 175hp mercruiser in a trade. I had never been interested in boating but the deal was to good to pass up. Anyways I'm gettin pretty excited about getting her on the water. I've been going over everything and changing the oils. I dont know what alot of hours on a motor are but this has 400 hrs. The boat and motor are in great shape. When i fired it up it started on the first crank and ran great. After running it for 20 minutes w the ears on, the temp got up to 200 degrees then I shut it off. I'm gonna change the water pump, does anyone have any tips on this. Can I leave the unit on the boat when I drop the lower unit. Any advice is appreciated.
