Starts on first pull every time. Started to leak oil and water in area of shift handle. when put in gear, the motor shakes and prop gives little power or thrust. It ran great for first three day of fishing and on the fourth day it created this problem. Can anyone help.

The leak out around the shift handle is no big deal. The o-ring is shot. Hey. after 53 years, is it any wonder?

So, you are saying it won't drive the boat? Have you checked the shear pin? If it isn't that, you have serious problems inside the gearcase. Or a broken shift rod.

The motor runs great,starts on first pull. The prop rotates when its in gear but the motor shakes and it lacks power. It sounds to me like something is locking up in the lower system. I know nothing about outboards. Does anyone have any suggestion as to what the problem might be? Good, Bad of Junk it?
